On Saturday, the 11th of November the P22 Peace Patrol boat based in the community of Sandwich for 7 years will be commemorating Armistice Day. The P22 will leave the Quay at 09:45 and a short service will take place in view of the quayside at 10 o’clock …..all are welcome! A biodegradable wreath laying ceremony and a scattering of paper poppies upon the river will take place overseen by the Rev Howard Pashley for which we are very grateful. All members of the public are welcome to witness this important occasion and remember those who have given so much for our future. The P22, crew and volunteers all of whom are local will then be present at the war memorial at St Peters church for 11 o’clock as a mark of respect. On Sunday 12th November representatives of the P22 Jonathan Curran and Keith Sanham will lay a wreath at the War Memorial at 11.00 am along with the Mayor and other dignitaries and other important organisations and residents in the Town of Sandwich demonstrating P22s strong support for the Town of Sandwich and its community #rbl #p22trust #weshallrememberthem #temembranceday #armisticeday #britishlegion
Do you ever have one of those “oh wow” days! Popped along to P22 today to meet matt_mcardlephotography and show him round with a great project in mind. During our meeting a lovely couple stopped on the quayside to read the signs about P22. We started chatting about P22, the US Navy & historical links in general. Well it turns out they are from San Diego & also volunteers on a naval ship. The USS Midway Museum - she was commissioned in 1945 & was then the largest warship. With their links we hope we might trace some of the crew from 1952-1958.
